I am very excited to have recently joined Team In Training to ride a Century (100 miles) this coming autumn with the goal of raising at least $3,000 for Cancer research and patient care. Please help me meet my fundraising goal.
It has been over 2 years since I rode in the Boston => NYC Aids Ride. This was one of the most rewarding activities of my life:
I am proud to have ridden for AIDS. Now, I am ridding for another cause even more dear to my heart. I am raising money for cancer research in memory of a number of people who died of cancer.
I am sure you agree with me that cancer research can save millions of lives. Today, in the United States alone, 11,000 people die of cancer every week!
Team in Training guarantees that at least 75% of the money raised will go to research and patient care. They do this by estimating the cost of training a rider and then requiring the rider to raise 4 times that amount. This formula has successfully provided millions of dollars to research. For example, the new chemotherapy drug Glaveek was developed in part with Team in Training donations

- Last year, my stepsister, Mara Freedman, died of cancer. I am riding for her memory.

- The prior year, my friend, Roddy, lost his father, Bob Devlin, to Lymphoma. I am riding for his memory.
- My brother’s childhood friend, David Karlin, suffered from cancer as a teen. I am riding for his memory.
- My friend and flatmate, Phyllis Shapiro, died of Leukemia one year after graduating college. I am riding for her memory.
